Note: for the coleslaw we went for a cabbage, carrot, mayonnaise, greek yoghurt and coriander slaw. The original Primanti Bros uses a dry slaw but we like it wet here at Sensational Sandwiches…

Instructions

  1. Chop your potato into thin fries, cover in oil, salt and pepper and place into an air fryer at 180 for 20-25 mins (if using an oven you may have to cook for 40-45 mins).
  2. Grate your cabbage and carrot.
  3. Mix the cabbage and carrot in a bowl with the mayonnaise, Greek yoghurt, coriander, red wine vinegar, salt and pepper (to taste).
  4. Thinly slice the tomato.
  5. Drizzle some extra virgin olive oil over your bread and lightly toast in a pan or skillet.
  6. Top one slice of bread with the meat.
  7. Layer the cheese on top of the meat.
  8. Then layer the chips on the cheese.
  9. Then add your coleslaw.
  10. Place the sliced tomato on top of the coleslaw.
  11. Then cover with your second slice of bread.
  12. Enjoy your Pittsburgh-style Primanti Bros sandwich!

  • 10 slices pastrami
  • 1 large tomato
  • 1 large potato (shop fries are a good substitute if you don’t want to make your own)
  • 1/4 white cabbage
  • 3 slices provolone cheese (can substitute for gouda)
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp Greek yoghurt
  • 2 Tbsp coriander (cilantro)
  • 5ml red wine vinegar
  • Extra virgin olive oil
